BestCities Global Alliance, the legacy-focused partnership of convention bureaux, has appointed Tia Daniels to fill the recently vacated role of director, business development & community engagement.
The high-profile appointment follows the departure of Jane Cunningham who left for a similar role with the US-based destination management association Destinations International earlier this year.
Daniels has been in the meetings industry for 25 years, half of that time in Denmark, where her most recent role was director of sales and marketing at Konventum Hotel & Conference Center.
Before that the American was international senior sales manager, Congresses & Events at Bella Center in Copenhagen. She also worked for MCI Copenhagen, where she led the COP15 Hotel & Guest Relations team through one of the city’s largest conferences in history with 30,000 delegates.
She said: “Being a passionate member of the meetings and events industry, I am honoured and very excited to take on this business development role with BestCities Global Alliance,” said Daniels.
“Understanding the shoes I have to fill after Jane Cunningham, I am proud to be offered the opportunity to continue the work of the BestCities team in carrying out the vision of the Alliance. I look forward to working with all the Alliance’s partner destinations and customers.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Tia to the BestCities team, and eager to leverage her expertise to build trust with clients, grow our community, and deliver sustainable impact to our customers and partner destinations,” said Lesley Williams, managing director, Best Cities.
“Tia will also play a key role in furthering our commitment to ensure positive and impactful legacy is integrated into every business event hosted in our member destinations. We are extremely excited for the future with Tia leading our business development.”
