The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) has strengthened its international association team with the appointment of Campbell Arnott as senior sales and business development manager.
Arnott joins the Glasgow venue after 16 years with Glasgow Convention Bureau, where he played a leading role in attracting international association conferences to the city and securing business events that have delivered long-term economic, academic and social benefits.
In his new position, Arnott will lead efforts to grow the SEC's international association business, working closely with city partners to attract major global congresses and reinforce Glasgow's position as one of Europe's leading conference destinations.
His appointment comes as the SEC continues to build momentum in the association market, following a series of high-profile congresses and future event wins.
This year, the venue hosted the American Geophysical Union's Ocean Sciences Meeting outside North America for the first time, alongside the ERA Annual Congress, Europe's largest nephrology conference, which attracted record attendance.
Recent successes also include securing the 25th IET International Conference on AC and DC Power Transmission and the International Congress of Mathematicians in 2030.
Arnott said he was excited to play a greater role in winning future conferences for the city.
"Glasgow is one of Europe's most attractive and accessible congress cities and the SEC is its anchor, combining world-class facilities with an incredible delegate experience," he said.
"There's a real ambition about where the SEC wants to go, and the opportunity to work alongside such an experienced team to help secure the right conferences for the future was something I really wanted to be part of."
Dawn Lauder, director of conference sales at the SEC, said Arnott's reputation within the al association sector and his experience would strengthen the venue's ability to attract major congresses that deliver lasting knowledge exchange and economic impact for Scotland.
