The Meetings Show has experienced a successful first day in its first incarnation as a hybrid event, with thousands of meetings taking place between suppliers and buyers, both face-to-face and virtually; hours of insightful education sessions delivered and valuable connections made.
The show – the UK’s leading platform for the world’s meetings and events community – was opened by tourism minister Nigel Huddleston.
The MP for Mid Worcestershire took a tour of the show floor at ExCeL, London, speaking to a number of exhibitors, including VisitDenmark, West Midlands Growth Company, Liverpool Convention Bureau, London Convention Bureau, VisitScotland, VisitBelfast and VisitWales, at their stands.
He said: “The business events and meetings industry makes a huge contribution to our economy and will continue to play a vital role as we build back better from the pandemic.
“It was fantastic to visit and open The Meetings Show today and meet the many exhibitors who are supporting the sector as it rebuilds. To see events professionals come together to share ideas and opportunities today demonstrates the enduring creativity of business events.”
As well as attending meetings with the show’s quality exhibitors and networking events, visitors flocked to education sessions to hear panel discussions on subjects such as sustainable events and professional growth, while presentations were delivered on virtual networking, hybrid meetings and wellness.
