An international meeting of wound care specialists, being held in Malaysia, will help spread important knowledge across multiple disciplines, it has been claimed.

The Asian Wound Care Association & 3rd Global Wound Conference is taking place at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, from 15 – 17 October 2021.

Malaysia’s national convention bureau, MyCEB, and the Malaysian Society of Wound Care Professionals (MSWCP), secured the conference, which is expected to attract 500 delegates.

Wound care is a critical part of the patient recovery journey.

The conference will provide a discussion platform for all healthcare professionals in sharing their knowledge and expertise on the best practices in this discipline.

Professor Dr Harikrishna K. R. Nair, founding president of WSWCP, said he hoped the conference would be a springboard for bigger things: “I believe hosting this conference in Malaysia will provide a great learning opportunity for the health care professionals in this region in interdisciplinary team approaches that deliver best practices for improved patient outcomes and disseminate educational and training toolkits created in practical, relevant and adaptable formats. After successfully hosted this conference, our next aim is to work together with MyCEB to secure the future edition of World Wound Healing Congress, which is the Olympic kind of event in our field to our shore.”

Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, CEO of MyCEB, added: “The advancement of knowledge and technology that is related to wound care is highly critical to ensure that the right method of wound care is practiced in speeding up the healing process and further prevent complication. Having the opportunity to host an event that gathers reputable authorities in the field of wound care under one roof to further discuss the advancement towards wound care standards for patients and healthcare professional performance reflects Malaysia’s astounding ranking as Best Healthcare in the World Category of the 2019 International Living Annual Global Retirement Index.”
