The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) has secured six major international conferences for 2026 and 2027, drawing international attention to Malaysia’s role in key growth sectors.
The events are expected to bring in more than 6,000 delegates and generate RM77.5 million (£14m) in visitor spending across hotels, dining, transportation, and tourism-related services.
What makes these wins significant is their strong alignment with Malaysia’s national development priorities, especially those outlined in the New Industrial Master Plan 2030.
The conferences cover healthcare, aviation safety, clean-energy technology, and women’s health — all areas the country has identified as strategic for economic and social advancement.
“Winning these bids is a resounding vote of confidence in Malaysia’s capacity, connectivity and collaborative spirit,” said John Burke, general manager of the KLCC.
“Beyond the direct economic contribution, these events will spark new partnerships, accelerate talent development, and showcase our nation’s commitment to driving solutions for aviation safety, global health security, net-zero technology and women’s health.”
Among the events set to take place are the Global Health Security Conference 2026, Energy Tech Summit Asia 2026, and the 85th FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences 2027. These gatherings are not only prestigious, but also opportunities to position Malaysia as a hub for knowledge-sharing and innovation in emerging sectors.
Burke noted the importance of collaboration in securing the bids.
“The centre’s success also reflects the strong synergy between venue, destination and industry partners, particularly in bidding for and hosting large-scale international events. We look forward to working with each organiser to deliver an unforgettable Malaysian experience that inspires repeat visitation and long-term investment.”
Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, KLCC offers more than 34,000 square meters of flexible event space and world-class infrastructure. The venue has become a key platform for driving Malaysia’s ambitions to attract high-impact business events that support long-term national goals.
