Excellence across various fields of association management was recognised at the European Association Awards (EAA), in Brussels, last week.

Top performing associations were honoured across four categories - DEI, Event Innovation, Impact, and Digital Communications.

The International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) took home the DEI Award in recognition of its SIOP Women Leaders Network in advancing gender equity, supporting leadership development, and fostering a more inclusive professional community.

“I am so extremely proud and thankful for this European Association Award and winningtheDiversity, Equity and Inclusion category. In these troubled times, it is very meaningful that SIOP would continue to push those values forward and support the voice of all women with our society and beyond” said Sarah Cohen-Gogo, Co-Chair of the SIOP Women Leaders Network.

The Event Innovation award went to the European Network of Living Labs for the imaginative use of space at its Networking Village at its flagship OpenLivingLab Days conference.  The village, which was open to members of the public, consisted of an open space where ‘village talks’ were held and a silent zone for people who wanted to catch up with work emails.

The European Hematology Association scooped the Digital Communications Award for its ongoing #LearningMondays initiative, which gives members a weekly, bite-sized hematology-related challenge on email and social media to help them test their knowledge.

And finally, the Impact Award went to the European Travel Agents and Tour Operators’ Association (ECTAA) who worked with its members and the New Hope Travel Industry Children’s Fund to provide summer holidays for Ukrainian children affected by the war.

“These summer camps provide a crucial escape for children who have faced unimaginable hardships,” said the President of ECTAA in a press release. “By creating moments of normalcy and joy, we aim to have a lasting positive impact on their lives. Who better than the travel industry—experts at crafting transformative experiences—to offer these children an extraordinary opportunity for discovery and renewal?”

The Awards took place at The Merode, following the European Association Summit, organised by the European Society of Association Executives
