Conference matchmaking platform Conferli has developed two new tools to help bring structure, comparability and realism to subvention and help associations better understand how they can access destination support.

The Association Guide to Subvention – Practical Edition has been created for associations who organise conferences and are seeking clarity around destination support while its Global Destination Support Filter helps associations see which cities offer which types of support.

With associations under increasing pressure to justify destination choices due to rising costs, greater accountability from boards, and growing expectations around impact and sustainability, Conferli said it had identified a need to provide guidance for them to make planning easier.

The free guide focuses on how destination support works in practice and how it fits into real decision-making moments, explaining what subvention means today. It also includes practical guidance around the different forms of financial and in-kind support destinations offer and when and how associations should engage with destinations.

Conferli said destination support was one of the ‘least transparent elements in conference planning’ so it hoped its new support filter would provide a visible benchmark for associations. The filter allows associations to see which cities provide which types of support and compare them against the financial, in-kind, sustainability and impact-driven initiatives they offer.

“As associations become more strategic in how they select destinations, transparent and comparable destination support is no longer a nice-to-have, but a deciding factor,” it said.
