Since the worst years of the Covid pandemic, 'bleisure' (adding leisure days to business trips) has become one of the main trends for the travel and hospitality industries worldwide.

Now an online survey of association conference organisers aims to reveal if and how the Bleisure trend is changing the habits of association conference participants in terms of adding extra days to their conference trips.

The short survey, being carried out by MICE Knowledge and Conferli, will also explore the attitudes of association conference organisers towards add-on leisure elements such as pre- and post-conference tours and the importance of cities’ leisure attractions in their choice of conference destinations.

Anyone who completes the survey will get a full report of the results.

Rob Davidson – managing director, MICE Knowledge, said: “The results of the survey will be of great interest to association conference organisers and organisations with responsibility for marketing cities for conferences and tourism. The research follows last year’s survey of convention bureaux, which showed how they are promoting Bleisure in their marketing campaign.”

Nienke van der Malen – CEO & Founder, Conferli, added: “Digging into why people linger longer in cities for conferences, we're on a quest to understand how a city's vibe adds meaning to meetings. We're unravelling to what extent relaxing and enjoying the city is part of the deal when attending a conference, making it more than just business.”

The closing date for the survey is September 30th, 2023.
