Sabah sets sights on becoming Asia Pacific’s hub for business events

The Malaysian state of Sabah will host more than 800 international delegates at the second edition of the International Business Events Forum – BE in SABAH 2025 in February. 

“Renowned as the ‘Land Below the Wind’, Sabah offers a unique blend of natural wonders, cultural heritage, and modern sophistication. Its strategic location in the East ASEAN Growth Area positions it as a hub for innovation and collaboration,” said Dr Hajah Rosmawati Haji Lasuki, CEO of SICC and organising chairperson of BE in SABAH 2025.

“BE in SABAH 2025 is not just an event; it is a platform for transformative dialogue and actionable strategies that redefine the role of business events in economic growth and cultural preservation. Sabah’s unique position in East ASEAN makes it a vital hub for fostering collaboration.”

With ambitions to secure a reputation as a ‘premier gateway for business events (BE) in southeast Asia, the conference promises to ‘engage key stakeholders, foster growth, and elevate Asia Pacific’s profile in the global Business Events arena, contributing not only to tourism revenue but also sustainable community development.’

Delegates will have the opportunity to engage in more than 600 minutes of educational sessions delivered by a growing roster of international speakers including ICCA’s CEO Senthil Gopinath, David Powell, Honorary British Consul (Sabah) cum managing director, Asia Ability Training & Consulting, Dame Doria Cordova, CEO of Excellerated Business School for Entrepreneurs and many more industry stalwarts. 

Sessions will explore a variety of topics, including the future of business events in ‘Is Our Business a Risky Business?’, leadership in ‘Talent Acquisition and Retention in a Globalised Workplace’ and legacy in ‘Community-based Tourism’.

The conference is a joint venture between the Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organiser & Suppliers (MACEOS) Sabah Chapter and Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) are hosting the second edition of the international Business Events (BE), taking place at the Sabah international Convention Centre between 27 and 28 February 2025.
