Berlin lands one of Europe’s largest cancer meetings

More than 30,000 doctors and medical researchers will descend on Berlin after organisers of one of Europe’s largest medical meetings chose the German capital for its 2025 annual congress.

 

Berlin becomes only the third German city to host the Congress of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) following in the footstep of Munich (2018) and Hamburg (2000).

 

The five-days congress will feature internationally renowned experts will provide state-of-the-art lectures and the latest on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.

 

Franziska Giffey, senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Industry, said: "Berlin's congress and event business is one of the most important economic sectors in our city. After the difficult pandemic years for the industry, we are now seeing a clear recovery with a signal effect: I am very pleased that we have succeeded in bringing the internationally renowned ESMO Congress to Berlin.”
