Kristin Miodonski has been appointed executive director of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Foundation after taking a benchmark qualification.

Miodonski, who had been serving as interim managing director, was awarded Certified Association Executive (CAE) status by the American Society of Association Executives.

CAE is recognised as the highest professional certification in the association industry.

Miodonski has extensive experience in association leadership, with a track record of helping organisations expand their reach, increase their relevance, and have a lasting impact.

"Kristin’s appointment as executive director is a testament to her leadership, vision, and commitment to the mission of the HSMAI Foundation," said Brian Hicks, president and CEO of HSMAI. "She has already made a significant impact in her interim role, and her recent achievement of the CAE designation reinforces the expertise and professionalism she brings to the table. Under her guidance, we are confident the foundation will continue to grow its influence and advance its critical work in talent development across our industry."

Reflecting on her new role, Miodonski said: "I’m honoured to officially step into the role of executive director of the HSMAI Foundation and to continue growing as a leader in the association space. I look forward to building on the Foundation’s legacy and working collaboratively with our partners to support the incredible talent within the hospitality industry."

The CAE certification is awarded to individuals who demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and commitment essential to effective association management. Miodonski is one of just 129 professionals to pass the Spring 2025 exam and joins a group of 4,500 CAEs worldwide.

In addition to her role at HSMAI, Miodonski serves as associate VP of Association Solutions at MCI USA and executive director of the Professional Development Consortium.

Established in 1983 to serve as the research and educational arm of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International. In 2018, The HSMAI Foundation established a new mission statement: To elevate the overall calibre and performance of sales, marketing and revenue management professionals in the global hospitality industry by driving initiatives that will attract new talent, develop emerging talent, and engage existing talent.
