Upcoming conferences showcase global collaboration
Wellington’s international appeal is reflected in the calibre of association conferences it continues to attract. This month alone the city will host the International Society for Urban Health (ISUH) and the Pacific Rim International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (PRICAI) - both events aligned with Wellington’s strengths in public health, urban planning and ethical AI. In January 2026, the International Sedimentological Congress will bring together geoscientists and environmental researchers, followed by the WONCA World Rural Health Conference in April 2026, which will spotlight rural health equity and indigenous health systems.

Tākina: a venue with meaning
Tākina is Wellington’s new convention and exhibition centre. The name means ‘to invoke’ or ‘to summon’ in te reo Māori, reflecting the Centre’s role in bringing people together to share knowledge and ideas. Its design draws inspiration from Wellington’s natural environment – and it offers flexible, light-filled spaces across two levels, with capacity for up to 1,600 delegates. It is located just steps from hotels, restaurants and cultural attractions.
