HUNGEXPO celebrates Budapest’s jubilee with exciting event bookings

As Budapest marks its 150th anniversary, Central Eastern Europe’s largest event site, HUNGEXPO, has plenty to celebrate. Visit the Hungary stand at IMEX Frankfurt to discover more

This year will see celebrations in Hungary’s capital for its 150th birthday as it marks the unification of Buda, Pest and Óbuda to form the city that we know and love today.

And HUNGEXPO is celebrating, too. Following its recent expansion and development, it is now the most extensive multifunctional exhibition and congress venue in Central Eastern Europe, with the capacity to hold events for up to 15,000 participants.

The main highlight of the recent development has been the addition of a contemporary congress centre. It can accommodate up to 2,000 in its largest room, offers 26 section rooms and has been fitted with modern audio-visual technology.

The plenary room is equipped with an ultramodern Gala Seats retractable seating system, which allows the venue to be transformed from an auditorium layout to a flat space in a matter of minutes. The 72 sqm, high-definition LED wall behind the stage is also a record-breaker in Hungary.

The reconstruction and expansion included two brand new pavilions – one of 7,250 sqm and one of 5,700 sqm – and the renovation of three other halls. Overall, more than 70,000 sqm of indoor and 36 hectares of outdoor space were renewed.

Gábor Ganczer, CEO of Hungexpo, says:

"Budapest is now expected to become one of Europe’s top five conference destinations as we will be able to host bigger events with more frequency.

“The atmosphere and the beauty of the city make it exceptional. We have more than 20,000 hotel rooms ranging from big brands to boutique hotels and many hotels in historic buildings from the grand Budapest era.

“The city provides a very safe environment with a reliable economy, and has the right infrastructure in place for events. For international congresses, the presence of Hungarian professors on international association boards is another advantage. Hungary is highly regarded for the excellence of our scientists and university faculties.

“International connectivity is another key advantage – Budapest is connected to over 100 global cities by direct flights.”
