Brussels is the number one city in the world for hosting international association meetings. But alongside its excellent reputation for efficiency, accessibility and high sustainability standards, the Belgium capital is home to a host of spectacular new and unusual venues
There are many reasons why Brussels attracted more international association meetings last year than anywhere else: location, accessibility, sustainability, reliability, world-class venues and the many institutions headquartered in the city. But this modern, stylish capital has also embraced the digital age, offering increasingly well-connected mobile services and venues offering enhanced hybrid and audio visual facilities. On board with the increasing urban trend of pop-up venues, a variety of spaces are being repurposed to add an exciting twist to an event.
But with a spate of stylish and unusual venues newly opened, the city is more exciting for events than ever.
Take a look at a few:
Sparks
Just a few steps from Central Station, this new multi-purpose venue offers clean, contemporary lines, playful touches and bucket-loads of creativity. It offers a variety of flexible event packages, too.
Mix Brussels
Located in an iconic building offering fabulous views of the Sonian Forest in the vibrant south Brussels district, this meticulously renewed venue offers three restaurants, a four-star hotel with 180 bedrooms and 15 meeting spaces including an auditorium accommodating 300. There is also a focus on wellness.
The Hoxton Brussels
Located in a brutalist-style tower that was once the IBM HQ in Europe, this new boutique hotel offers a funky 1970s inspired interior, double-height lobby, bar and restaurant, 198 bedrooms and amazing views from its rooftop terrace. It is just a short walk from the historic centre and close to many of the major museums.
Belgian Beer World
Belgian Beer has UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status so it makes sense that it has a magnificent new home to celebrate its importance. Opening this summer in the long-awaited redevelopment of the magnificent Belgian stock exchange, Belgian Beer World will offer excellent opportunities for event organisers including a spectacular 350 sqm Skybar.
Rooftop 58
Brussels is home to many rooftop event spaces offering fantastic views. Rooftop 58, however, boasts Europe’s largest rooftop and jaw-dropping vistas of the city. It is located in the heart of the city.
Capital of Art Nouveau Brussels 2023
And if all those are a bit too contemporary for your tastes, Brussels is home to almost 1,000 Art Nouveau buildings. The city is marking the 130th anniversary of the opening of Victor Horta’s renowned Tassel House in 1893 with an exciting programme of events this year, making it the ideal time to explore the elegant facades and sumptuous interiors - think stained glass, mosaics and wrought iron – of this architectural style. The Art Nouveau masterpieces Hotel Solvay and Hotel Van Eetvelde have recently been renovated and are now open to the public. A must visit in Brussels!
