Did you know that Bern is the greenest capital in Europe?
Beehives, home to hundreds of thousands of bees, have been protected behind a glass wall on the roof of the Kursaal congress centre for many years. Busy pollinating flowers, the delicious honey produced is then used by the Centre’s chefs.
Plastic straws were, of course, banned from the Centre’s inventory some time ago. And the homemade jam is produced from surplus local fruit. In fact, this and other Foodsave projects mean the Kursaal is already responsible for having saved more than 3.5 tons of food from going to waste. The Centre continuously analyses its food waste and works steadily to further minimise it.
At banquets, the Kursaal offers guests cardboard boxes so they can pack up leftovers from the buffet to take away with them.
Dine sustainably at Myle
Just open this year, Myle is a brand-new restaurant in the city that only serves locally produced and seasonal dishes. It also offers event organisers the most sustainable option on a silver platter with its event technology and private venue.
