In the latest episode of The Meeting Room: Out of Office, Kat Kevern shares how mentorship and inclusive initiatives are reshaping the events industry.
As the driving force behind NOWIE, Kat reflects on the transformative power of mentorship and how investments in consulting have doubled her business turnover.
At the heart of the conversation is NOWIE's Level Up mentorship programme, which is making waves as it completes its third cohort. This time, the programme is set to welcome male mentors, emphasising the importance of engaging allies and ambassadors in the fight for gender equality. Kat explains, “We’re introducing male mentors to engage allies and ambassadors for gender equality.”
The episode also dives into NOWIE's commitment to data-driven change with their landmark diversity and inclusion survey. The findings reveal ongoing disparities, particularly around the challenges faced by women during motherhood and menopause. “Some findings were shocking—there’s still a huge glass ceiling effect,” Kat notes.
NOWIE’s transition into a Community Interest Company (CIC) marks another milestone, allowing the organisation to reinvest 100 per cent of resources into its members. With exciting plans ahead—including the fourth cohort of Level Up, refreshed memberships, and enhanced digital tools—NOWIE is positioning itself as a beacon for equity and empowerment in the events industry.
