Zoom, the video calling app, plans to break into the conferences and events industry with a new all-in-one platform.
Zoom Events will combine the existing Zoom Meetings, Chat and Video Webinar features into one platform and enable event organisers to produce ticketed, live events for audiences of any size.
Currently, the platform is in Beta, the trial stage of development, and known as OnZoom. When the platform officially launches this summer it will be rebranded as Zoom Events.
Alongside conferences and events, Zoom Events will also provide users with a central place to host online brand experiences, product launches and team-building activities.
The integrated ticketing system will allow users to customise the ticketing and registration process as well as control access and billing from one portal.
It will also provide statistics on factors such as registration, attendance and revenue.
Zoom Events will add another notch to Zoom’s portfolio which grew in size and profit during the pandemic, with a current worth of $35bn. Recently, Zoom announced a $100m venture fund to invest in productivity apps to be used across the Zoom platforms.
“We know that people are looking for flexibility in how they attend events in the future. The hybrid model is here to stay, and Zoom Events is a perfect solution for our customers who are looking to produce and host customer, company, and public events with an easy, yet powerful solution,” Zoom’s chief product officer, Oded Gal said.
“This is another way we’re helping customers scale to meet consumer demands and the evolving virtual and hybrid landscape.”
Zoom Events platform benefits include:
Build an event hub to manage and share events
Customisable ticketing and registration
Control access and billing from one portal
Host a variety of events - free or paid, one-time or series
Bring attendees together with integrated networking
Track event statistics like attendance, registration, revenue, and more
Events can be kept private or posted to our public directory for others to discover
Zoom Events can be used with an existing paid Zoom Meetings or Video Webinar license
