Association executives from under-represented groups are being urged to apply for a scholarship to take part in a two-year leadership programme of ‘education, mentoring and volunteer service’.
The deadline for submissions to the 2019-2021 Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP), run by the American Society of Association Executives, has been set at Monday, March 11.
Candidates who have at least three years of mid-senior level association management experience or at least one year of experience as an association CEO and are members of a racial/ethnic minority group, lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender, or have a disability are encouraged to apply.
Scholarships will be given to those who can demonstrate ‘exemplary leadership skills and a commitment to advancing the association community’. They will experience membership and volunteer service at ASAE and have access to industry leaders who could serve as career coaches.
“DELP is a vital program to the association industry. It helps associations identify and develop motivated leaders that fuel organizational success,” said ASAE president & CEO John Graham
The Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau has sponsored DELP since 2001.
