Julius Solaris, former head of engagement at Swapcard and founder of EventMB, has joined event technology platform Hopin as vice-president of marketing strategy, events.

The industry Svengali will support the growth of Hopin’s all-in-one event management platform and guide core marketing strategies, including content and partnerships across Hopin’s event solutions.

Solaris brings deep experience to the events side of Hopin’s multi-product portfolio and, prior to his stint at Swapcard, was founder and former editor in chief of EventMB (acquired by Skift in 2019), an online resource for trends, technology, innovation and education for the events industry.

“The event industry is going through a crucial transformation. Technology is taking centre stage, deeply changing the way we plan and attend events. Hopin is the catalyst of such change and there is no company better positioned to help event professionals thrive through this delicate moment of opportunity. I am beyond excited to be a part of this incredible team,” said Solaris.

On 12 October, Julius Solaris and Lauren Sommers (VP, corporate marketing at Hopin) will co-host Hopin’s EventMinded, a mental health summit for event professionals featuring high profile speakers such as Simone Biles and Adam Grant.
