The Strategic Alliance of the National Convention Bureaux of Europe (SANCBE) has added Malta and Wales as members as it looks to bolster its network across Europe and further its aim of positioning Europe as a leading destination for international business events.

The additional two nations grow the alliance’s membership to 30 and are supported by the creation of a new Alliance Coordination Office which SANCBE said was designed to strengthen collaboration and improve efficiency.

“Welcoming Malta and Wales is a significant step in strengthening our Alliance as a truly pan-European network,” said SANCBE co-chairs Matthias Schultze and Eric Bakermans

“At a time when collaboration and shared purpose across Europe matter more than ever, this expansion reinforces our collective ability to actively shape the future of the European meetings and events sector on a global stage.”

The announcements were made at the first of the Alliance’s two annual meetings, held in Dublin where SANCBE outlined plans for the year ahead, including the expansion of key initiatives such as the Sustainability Hub for Events (SHE) and the Convene 4 Climate conference.
