Online and hybrid events in Seoul made easy
Always ahead of the game, Virtual Seoul offers an excellent range of innovative digital resources to provide engaging solutions for association planners to discover how they can host hybrid and online events in the South Korean capital
To help connect online and on-site events in preparation for a return to business as usual, Seoul Convention Bureau has created an array of digital catalysts. These include the setting up of support programmes as well as training and workshops to assist international association event organisers in both digital and hybrid events.
How well the technology works was put to the test with Seoul live on: 2021 Virtual Mice Show in July. International event organisers and suppliers from the Seoul Mice Alliance came together for a series of virtual events that was deemed a great success by all.
“Congratulations to STO for doing a great job during this pandemic in promoting Seoul. The platform provided to us participants makes us feel that we are in Seoul!”
Mary Margaret, buyer who attended Seoul live on: 2021 Virtual Mice Show
New digital programmes
Designed to help bring digital and physical events together and provide multi-dimensional experiences for participants, Seoul Convention Bureau has created three new digital programmes offering everything an international association event organiser will need.
Virtual Seoul
Virtual Seoul is a platform that has been designed to resemble the city in 3D. International associations can hold business events using various programmes including e-conferences, live sessions, networking and mini games.
Functions include:
- E-conference discussions and presentations, which can be live or recorded
- Presentations and profiles of speakers can be added to the walls on either side of the screen
- Live sessions for Q&A or discussions are possible with a divided screen to show the participants
- Networking group chats and one to one private chats are both possible to encourage networking between participants
- Sponsorship opportunities are available via graphic or video advertisements on all screens and walls in the venues and on the billboard in the lobby.
- Kiosks at different locations are available for logos, which can link to the website of sponsors.
Seoul Tourism Organization provides the platform with 3D graphics free of charge. Costs include: Programme customisation such as banners and bespoke functions; Server connection, which varies depending on the number of participants; Meeting programme connection such as Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meets.
Seoul MICE World
A virtual promotional booth - which can be linked to an event website - provides an introduction to the city and offers fun cultural activities with one click.
Virtual Seoul Playground
Making use of gamification, Virtual Seoul Playground uses avatars to assist engagement in the virtual team building world. This metaverse makes use of games of varying levels of challenge. Groups logging in from around the world pick their hanbok-wearing avatars and choose from three games. Each revolves around a traditional Korean cultural activity and makes use of some of South Korea’s iconic landmarks.
For instance, participants can make gimpap at Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the heart of Seoul, starting with yunnori, a traditional Korean game in which players throw sticks and move markers in the square in front of Seoul City Hall.
Virtual site inspections
Also available are 49 videos offering short virtual reality site inspections of the main event venues in the city. Search Seoul Convention Bureau in YouTube to find the venues and infrastructure that interests you.
