BESS makes Annual Scientific Meeting an international affair

The British Elbow & Shoulder Society (BESS) will make this year’s Annual Scientific Meeting international for the first time. 

The three-day event, which takes place at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music next week, will be attended by La Sociedad Española de Cirugía de Hombro y Codo (The Spanish Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery) as well as surgeons and advanced health practitioners from across Britain. 

To mark the milestone for the BESS, the Spanish society’s president elect Abdul-ilah Hachem, will deliver the Presidential Guest Lecture to its 650 delegates. 

BESS president Mark Falworth and vice president/local organiser lead, Jaime Candal-Couto, said: “We are pleased to welcome colleagues from the Spanish Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, marking an important step in strengthening international collaboration and sharing expertise. We look forward to three days of high-quality discussion, debate and professional development.”

It will be the second time the Annual Scientific Meeting for the BESS will be held at the Glasshouse located on NewcastleGateshead quayside. 

Chris Laws, head of operations, events and hires at The Glasshouse, said: “The BESS conference will make full use of our world-class auditorium and our open concourse area for the exhibition, which has panoramic views across the river to Newcastle upon Tyne.”
