Following issues with existing carbon
measurement tools, Gorazd Čad, cofounder of Solvenia-based event tradeshow Conventa, decided to create his own event carbon footprint calculator and certification
tool for the industry to use.
The new Plant Positive Event platform is a web-based event sustainability assessment tool for events of all sizes.
Event organisers can select a package and conduct a
self-assessment on their events by analysing 16 evaluation matrixes, including energy, waste
and mobility, and one Sustainable Development Goal matrix which can be used to
calculate the event’s regenerative environmental, social and governance effects.
The assessment will then be reviewed by an external assessor
and once the assessment is finalised, a one-, two- or three-star event rating will
be calculated. Platform users will receive a report and a certificate that
aligns with European Sustainability Reporting Standards which are aimed at
enhancing corporate accountability.
“To sustainably transform Conventa, we tested numerous
tools, calculators, methodologies and recommendations. Something was always
amiss or didn’t function properly,” said Čad.
“That is how we decided to develop our own solution. We are
immensely proud of it because it is a global innovation in many ways. Among its
numerous facets is its external evaluation conducted by independent experts.
The solution is also user-friendly, resulting in a great user experience.
