In a notable effort to support education, Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) has donated 1,000 books to Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Bungan (Batu Bungan Primary School).

The donation is part of the Books Build Legacy initiative, a state-level corporate social responsibility programme by BESarawak which aims to enhance educational opportunities for rural communities in Sarawak.

“The donations to SK Batu Bungan were collected from three events this year, namely the Singapore Association for Continuing Education team building and retreat, the ‘Connect. Play. Donate’ industry gathering in Kuching, and the Sarawak Invitational Interteam Pickleball Challenge 2024 in Miri,” said Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, who presented the books. “The progress of this program is very encouraging, and we hope it inspires other organisations to contribute.”

“With less than 70 pupils, these books will play a crucial role in their educational journey. We anticipate that more students will develop a passion for reading both in and out of school,” said Michelle Lee, Senior Assistant of Students' Affairs at Batu Bungan Primary School. “Teachers are always seeking ways to enhance our pupils’ learning experiences and academic growth. We deeply appreciate the generosity of the business events community.”

BESarawak encourages more organisations from various industries to participate in the Books Build Legacy initiative.
