IMEX Group, owners of the meetings industry trade show, has confirmed that the suspension of Russian state enterprises will remain in place at IMEX Frankfurt this year.
Last year IMEX suspended Russia from exhibiting at the show in Frankfurt in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
IMEX Group CEO Carina Bauer confirmed that the suspension remains in place, but that Russian individuals and privately owned businesses will be welcome at the show, which takes place on at Messe Frankfurt on May 23-25.
Bauer said: “We’re sad that the conflict in Ukraine has extended into 2023 and continues to deeply affect the lives of the Ukrainian people and the country’s economy.
“As a direct result of the current political situation our decision to suspend Russian state enterprises from participating at IMEX remains unchanged. We do this with a heavy heart, understanding that the world is in an unprecedented situation.
“However, we’re aware there are many Russian individuals or privately owned businesses who may wish to participate in the show in different ways and all of these people are welcome at IMEX.
“Our hearts go out to everyone who is affected by this situation, and especially the people of Ukraine. All of us wish for a speedy and peaceful resolution to this conflict.”
