Gothenburg has launched a new digital site visit service, giving
event planners the chance to see the Swedish city and its meetings and events facilities
up close without physically being there.
The new platform, which was launched at IMEX in Frankfurt, is
built on Gothenburg’s digital twin and combines real-time data, adaptable
scenarios and immersive 3D environments.
Using the tool, organisers can explore the city’s venues,
hotels and surroundings and gain an understanding of both capacity and context.
Users are guided through selected environments and can
choose what to explore in the city, which marks 40 years as an international
meetings destination this year.
Fredrik Lundgren of Gothenburg Convention Bureau said the
Welcome to Gothenburg initiative, a year in planning, was part of the destination’s
long-term work to continue developing the city as an international meeting
destination and respond to changing needs among international organisers.
“We have gone from idea to a finished product that is now
ready to use. We can offer a practical tool that makes it easier to create a
clear picture of Gothenburg as a meeting destination and of our venues in
detail, tailored to each customer,” he said.
