Nine years after it last came to Copenhagen, the
European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) Annual Congress
will visit the Danish capital again in 2025.
An alignment of the city’s commitment to
sustainability and innovation, coupled with ESCRS’ goals for the future of ophthalmology
(the study of eye disorders), helped Copenhagen win the large medical
conference.
“The ESCRS Annual Congress is leading in its field and
attracts thousands of members to share knowledge and learn from each other,” said
Bettina Reventlow-Mourier, deputy director of conventions at Wonderful
Copenhagen. But ESCRS is also well aligned with Copenhagen’s DNA because of its
strong focus on fostering a culture of sustainability and social responsibility
to minimise the environmental impact of its events and the industry it
represents.”
The city’s largest congress venue, Bella Center will
once again host the conference and its expected 15,000 professionals in the
field of intraocular lens implantation and refractive surgery.
"We are thrilled to welcome back the prestigious
ESCRS Annual Congress to Bella Center Copenhagen, this time expecting double
the attendance from their last visit in 2016,” said Bellagroup sales director,
Maria Lentz-Greve.
“We believe one of the key reasons for being selected
as the venue is our shared commitment to sustainability and inclusion. The
dedication of ESCRS and MCI Group to advancing sustainable practices aligns
perfectly with our own commitment to 'Responsible Hospitality'. We look forward
to our further collaboration and welcoming a full house of experts in September
2025."
