Association executives will meet in Washington later this year for two days of education and networking.
The expansion of the International Association Summit format into North America marks the first time the association community platform will host an event outside of Europe.
Brussels-based ASSOCIATIONWORLD hopes to attract representatives
of international and North American associations, non-profits, NGOs and federations
to its inaugural Washington International Association Forum (WIAF) on 27-28 September 2022.
Much the same as the existing Geneva International
Association Forum (GIAF) and Brussels International Association Forum (BIAF), WIAF’s
mission is to provide knowledge transfer, enable peer-to-peer exchange, share
best practices and design joint initiatives which tackle common challenges and
help achieve better results and greater impact.
Kai Troll, ASSOCIATIONWORLD president, said: “With the
launch of WIAF, the ASSOCIATIONWORLD movement is expanding its xIAF brand event
property to a third global association hub. Many of our over 12,000 community
members are based in North America and we are following their recommendation to
bring premium education opportunities and experiential learning at affordable
prices to the international associations community in North America.”
The summit will bring attention to the differences between how European and North American associations are governed. Troll added:
“We are very much looking forward to hosting the first edition of WIAF for
association leaders who are interested in gaining a more global perspective of
international association management, not only from a governance, but also from
a cultural point of view and to help create more positive impact around the
world.”
Programme highlights include workshops and panel discussions
on good governance, leadership, organisational culture, membership and communities,
advocacy, campaigning, communications, marketing and resource development.
Registrations open on May 15. More information and
pre-registration already available: wiaforum.org.
