It's hard to hear the words "River Walk" without imagining yourself on the banks of the San Antonio River in southern Texas. While the downtown portion is lined with restaurants, boutiques and hotels, the pathway now wanders quite a long way down to San Antonio's famed missions, old Spanish churches with plenty of history to impart. One downtown area of the River Walk veers off to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, where groups gather in the 514,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, the 54,000-square-foot Stars at Night Ballroom and the 72 breakout meeting rooms. Another great area for groups is the Pearl District, which features the singular and circular Pearl Stable, built for a brewery's draft horses in 1894 and now an event space for special evenings.
