High-level governance issues will be the focus of attention
when association leaders gather in London next month, as not-for-profits
continue to grapple with internal protocol.
Associations Conference London will be held at QEII
Conference Centre, July 12, with speakers sharing their experiences of
undertaking significant board-level change.
Organised by governance advisory firm Governology,
associations represented include World Physiotherapy, International Federation
for the Teaching of English, and WSAVA.
John Peacock, from Governology, said: “Because professional
and trade bodies have unique rules, they are often out-of-date with
contemporary governance structures.
“Where and how an entity is incorporated, how many are on
the board and how it is elected or chosen and trained are critical issues for
open discussion.”
The conference is open to senior leaders at UK, European,
and international associations, along with professional and trade bodies,
Chartered institutes, learned societies, and Royal colleges.
